But the wisdom, that is from above, indeed is first chaste, then peaceable, modest, easy to be persuaded, consenting to the good, full of mercy and good fruits, without judging, without dissimulation.

Reflection

The wisdom from above is first pure, then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. James lists seven qualities in order — purity first, because the rest depends on it. Wisdom is measured by its character, not its cleverness.
